Watch The Walking Dead for Less



As usual as the end of the year approaches and we are extremely tight on cash. Taking a look at our bills to see what we can cut out or cut back on. First thing on the list that strikes me is our Direct TV bill. It is about $75 a month for the package we are on right now. We don't really watch that much television.

I talked to my husband about canceling it completely and look into streaming or some kind of online TV programs. He told me absolutely not. AMC's The Walking Dead has a new season coming on. I told him we could get it online and I'll just buy him the series on DVD. Nope not gonna happen. He wants to see it, when it is first on. Alrighty Then.


How can I deny that sweet face? ;)

So I check the Direct TV site for any cheaper channel groupings with AMC. NONE!! So here I am at a stand still.

There is a Aunt of mine that is very outspoken that came to mind. Several times she'd told all of us that she'd called her cable company to demand better deals. And got them. Well, I don't like that method. There is something wrong about being rude to the company that provides you with a service that you enjoy.

There is something to that idea though. Companies do like to keep loyal customers. Thinking about it most companies have some kind of reward system for their loyal customers. My husband has had this account since 1998. He might just be deserving.

I take a look at their website and see bargains for new customers and that you can refer a friend for discounts. Everyone I know has their TV provider figured out so that doesn't help.

Time to put my own spin on my Aunt's method of getting a deal. Collected all our information that they would need to find our account. I gave them a call. Asked them kindly if there was anything that they do for loyal costumers. The lady at the other end of the line takes a look at our account  "OH, you have been with us for a while. I think we might be able to do something. Let me connect you to someone that can help."

Right away I was connected with another representative. I requested the same thing. Right away she looked at our account and offered $20 off our monthly bill for the next 24 months! I was leery, if they changed our plan my husband would go zombie on my ass.  So I asked and she said it would be the same plan. I was thrilled of course. I couldn't believe it was that simple.

Result my husband gets to watch The Walking Dead in peace. AKA I'm not nagging him about the TV bill.

Biggest part is that it will be saving us $240 per year for the next 2 years.  Now I am skipping off to look into some other bills.

Back Seat to Kid Furniture



 I've been admiring the little kid furniture. I really wish it was a need so that I could justify getting one for my toddler. As my daughter is able to climb onto the couch it's just not a need at this time. But every time I see them I stop and look and wish for a little sitting area for my kids. Even if I were to try to pick one though I'd have some things to think over. Size. It would need to be big enough for more then one child. Sturdy? It can't be flimsy because I know that my daughter would want one of her older siblings to sit with her. So it would need to hold the weight of 7 to 11year olds as well. I'd like it to be comfortable or there would be no way she would sit on it and we would be back to square one. I wouldn't want an obnoxious color because her play area is in our living room. It needs to be something I can stand to see all the time. Seems like a large order.. An expensive order! I looked into the seats and I couldn't find one that would be right that wasn't over $100! No way am I paying that much for something that she will grow out of so quickly besides I don't have that to spend anyway.

As I was getting ready for my sons birthday party earlier this month I came across our Jeeps back seat. To save money on fuel we decided to lighten the load in my husbands vehicle and took it out. I kept looking at it in the back of the garage while I was decorating. At the time it hadn't hit me but my eyes kept drifting to it like there was something I need to do with that. Anyone else ever have one of those moments?

Then last night I was thinking about it again. The height is exactly the right size for my daughter. And big enough for one or two of the big kids to join her on it. So I asked my husband to bring it into the living room. I just wanted a good look at the size of it in the room. He of course thought I was off my rocker but brought it in anyway. I put the floor protectors for chairs under it so it wouldn't scratch the floor. We set it in the spot I wanted a little chair in. It fit perfectly.



 We vacuumed  the seat but it had some stains on it. So instead of spending a lot of time on this project I grabbed a sheet from the closet that looked good with the rest of the furniture and put that on it. I may pick up clips or the sheet holders to keep it from sliding off. Threw on a couple of throw pillows. So that now it just looks like a mini couch. I pulled out my black trunk and she now has a table as well.  And as you can see from above my daughter liked it. (She liked that with it she could look out the window or see the cats snoozing up in the window.) But later she did sit in it with one of her brothers and her sister. They all cuddled together on it. Warmed my heart.






 It ended up being just what my living room needed. And helps with seating when company comes over because my big kids can sit on it or on the black trunk. Sometimes I'm amazed how well simple items can pull an area together. 


You know it may seem cheap or cheesy to use an old back seat from a vehicle in your home. Maybe it is. In my eyes if you can make a dream come true or make life easier with what you already have. Do It!

Treehouse For Fairy or Leprechaun




 I got my first taste of miniature from my moms collection of miniature furniture that she kept behind glass in our dinning room. I'd admire them and wish to take them out and play with them all the time. Or just to touch them and admire their tinyness.

Now there is this fad of fairy gardens. With tiny plants, swings, benches and other outdoor things that a small gardener would need.

I thought to start one in my yard because I loved to rustic look of some of the images that I'd come across online. Such as the one at The Juise.  I even considered having the kids help as she did. Then I remembered that I have a knack for killing plants.

I thought well I could see about on in a small pot such as the ones at The Garden Glove.  But once again plants. It's the little plants that make them pop! What is a black thumbed gal to do?

Then as I looked at all the pretty fairy garden things I found this
 on Etsy sold by Casualee.


For me this gave me hope. I didn't need to have little plants to have a bit of whimsy fairy stuff in my yard. So off I went out into the yard to look at my trees. And behold the tree right by my front door was calling for a little something.






Instead of making a door I chose to get out some paints and paint one on. I used enamel because that is just what I had on hand to use. We will see how it holds up to the weather. I was happy with the results.  Then my husband caught wind of what I was up to and did something very fun. He made a corn cob mail box for our little home. With a moving flag! I painted the flag red and it was good to go. I wasn't going to stop there. We needed windows. So I asked my husband to cut up some blocks of wood for me to paint some windows. Then we screwed them to the tree. Don't worry we aren't damaging a good tree. This poor tree is already dying. I decided it's last years can be of the magical kind. We had also staked up some of those solar powered lights and one just looks so good right beside the door and at night with my porch light and those on we can still enjoy our tree house.


My kids are older and not to into this sort of thing but they were kind enough to play along. So when I asked what was moving into our tree. My daughter told me it was a Leprechaun. When I asked for a name they told me it's Louie. I was thinking it would be a fairy but seems we have a richer neighbor then that. So I made up a story that the yellow in the windows is the glow of his gold. 

For now I like how our special tree house has turned out. But if I feel like adding things there is still room. You never know.

Charmed and Company Creations Interview

Many of you may know I have been working on my Direct Sales List page. While researching and looking for more representatives on direct sales groups on Facebook. My post was seen by a very special Representative by the name of Vickie Musselman. For those of you that don't know Vickie. She is the founder and owner of Charmed and Company Creations. She has agreed to let me interview her for Just As I Am-Dee.

First of all, thank you, Vickie for doing this interview I know that you are a busy woman and I appreciate you taking the time for this.

Vickie can you start by telling us about yourself? 

 I am from here and have lived in Richmond and the surrounding areas all of my life. I'm 58 years old. I have been married to my wonderful husband, Dan for nearly 30 years. We have two adult children, and 4 grandsons ranging in age from 19 to 7. I have worked in retail jobs, and I have worked in Direct Sales jobs. Over the years I have been a teacher's aide to physically handicapped students, wrote classified ads for a small local weekly newspaper, worked in a Bank, as an office manager for an insurance company, as the secretary/assistant to the outside sales coordinator of a major floral supply company, and in a law office. I also owned and operated a brick and mortar floral shop for 5 years before deciding that I would prefer to be at home fulltime again. That is when I looked into Direct Sales. I sold Mary Kay, Home Interiors, and Avon over a period of several years. Three years ago, I joined Facebook and started seeing all of these online businesses being advertised. I joined a few, using my previous retail and office management skills to apply to being a good leader of recruits as they signed under me for these businesses. I enjoy reading, being creative with floral arrangements and jewelry designs, and my family which includes two dogs and a cat as well as the human members.


When did you start Charmed and Company Creations?

Charmed and Company Creations was founded officially in January of 2014.The company is home based out of Richmond, Indiana.

Brand new, congratulations Vickie. We would all like to know why you decide to start your own company?
I had been with another European Charm Company, and loved the products and was building a great team of Reps when the company made a change to a $15 per month website charge for Reps as well as having to buy $30 of merchandise to become a Rep instead of their previously free signups. I stayed to see this great new website, and once it was launched, I was disappointed in the sparse amount of merchandise offered, as well as in the website appearance itself. I saw them go from over 700 Reps to just over 350 literally overnight when they launched these changes! I decided that I could offer free signups for Reps, a decent compensation plan, and by using one website for all Reps to sell through...could keep it free for the Reps.

That is quite a drop in representatives in a short time. So how did you accomplish these goals you set?
I researched, lined up vendors, placed orders for product, and began formulating ideas for a website while looking for someone to put together the website very inexpensively for me. My son had created his own websites for his own two businesses through a free website company, and they were so well done. I asked him if he could help me out with this one, and he graciously said that he would. I thought it would take us about 2 weeks...and it ended up taking us about 6 weeks to get it all together, tweak it, and finally launch on March 29, 2014. But as of this writing we are at 16,076 views on the website just since it launched in March of 2014. We have had marketing experts tell us this is unheard of and remarkable. We are so grateful and blessed.

I also started advertising in as many Facebook groups as I could find about this new company, and saying we were hiring in the United States and Canada. People began to sign up...and we were on our way! We now also hire in most countries around the world. If shipping isn't an issue for Reps or customers, we will hire Reps from there.

What made you decide to specialize in charms?

I didn't decide to specialize in just charms. I wanted to be very different from the other companies out there. So I decided to offer a big variety to appeal to a bigger section of the marketplace. So we do offer snake chain starter bracelet bases, beads, charms, spacers, dangles to create your own bracelets; but we also offer our signature Jump Start Bracelets. These are bracelets with 6 to 8 beads, spacers and maybe a dangle which can be worn right away and which the customer can add to as they can afford to or want to. We offer completed bracelets which are full and are for those who don't want to create their own or maybe want to purchase as gifts.

We also offer floating lockets, back plates, and charms. These are the same thing as the National Big Name companies are offering from many of the same vendors!  We offer both alloy metal as well as Stainless Steel lockets and chains. We have over 430 floating charm styles to choose from...which is much more than the big name companies are offering. We are also priced WELL below what they are and all of our lockets come with a chain instead of separately for customer convenience and value. For instance, our lockets with chain are $24.95 and $27.95 per set for the same item that would cost $40 for the locket and another $12 to $15 for the chain at those national name companies. For the same things from the same vendors!!! Why pay more when you don't have to?

We offer scarves, scarf jewelry, a line of trendy necklace and earring sets, bracelets with themes such as western cowgirl, etc. 

I apologize,  I just noticed that you had a very large variety of charms. Of which you have some special selections that you'd like to tell us about?
 We are very proud to offer a line of cause jewelry. These are necklaces and earrings, bracelets or keychains representing awareness for Breast Cancer, Epilepsy, Autism, Diabetes (and there are more causes to follow). For every piece of jewelry sold in this line, we make a $2 donation to that particular cause for research. These have been extremely popular. It's wonderful to feel like we are making a difference and giving back. We hope to help be part of a cure in our lifetime. We also offer military items in the same styles as the cause line for Army, Navy, Marines, Air Force as well as Sheriff, Police, Firefighter, EMT/EMS, Nurses, Teachers, School Bus Drivers, etc. These are very popular.

What brought you to making your business direct sales?

I decided to become a Direct Sales Company at the outset. I wanted to build a company that would have a way for many people to be spreading the word, and getting sales, but which would also serve as a way for others to start their own small business and earn money in the form of commissions and downline sales commissions as well. People have responded overwhelmingly to this, and we are at over 300 Reps as of this writing. I am very blessed to have the finest group of Reps and having built it to over 300 just since January of 2014, for a start up home based business/company is remarkable, we think... as well as humbling.

What image are you trying to portray with Charmed and Company Creations?

 The company image I want to project for Charmed and Company Creations is that we are a company offering people an opportunity to own their own business for FREE!!  We want to offer quality merchandise, at the lowest prices among our competitors, and we want to be a company that gives back such as with our cause jewelry line and donations to those causes. We are a company founded by a woman, for women and sold primarily by women. We truly believe that the sky is the limit, and are excited about the future with this company and it's Reps.

Can you tell us what difficulties you had to overcome to get to this point?

 There are always many difficulties with owning a business and with starting a company they are just bigger and affect more people. I had difficulties with knowing what to do about a website. I reached out to my son and did some research as to the various options, costs, companies, etc. and chose the one we are with now. There are difficulties with a free sign up platform because you get people who are not necessarily committed to the company or products. They didn't have to invest anything into the business, and they are sometimes quick to leave if they do not see overnight profits fall into their checkbooks. I call these people the serial joiners. They join everything that comes along because it's free, but they don't stay long enough or work hard enough at doing the hard work that it takes to build a business. So that's always difficult. To overcome that, I mentor my Reps. We have an exclusive closed Facebook Group for signed up Reps only. I interact personally with all of the Reps there. I answer questions, give motivation and encouragement. We have recognition of accomplishments, and information is given to them for and about their businesses. That personal interaction with the founder of the company sets us apart from so many other companies out there. I maintain a personal connection and relationship with all of our Reps. I work hard to let them know that I am here for them and will help them strategize so they can be successful. Their success is my success. I strive hard to be a good leader, and I don't ask them to do things that I am not doing or willing to try to do myself. We are in this thing together. We have had some difficulty with a few vendors and receipt of merchandise in a timely manner. To overcome this, I have worked with a few vendors on better priorities and I have switched to other vendors when necessary in order to receive items quicker so we can ship them out quickly to our customers.
I love that you are so hands on with your representatives. Those that start a Direct Sales business are always more successful with guidance and support. With your attention to this detail I'm sure that all your Representatives and you will become very successful. 

Please tell us what is your motivation? 

I have the determination to get through because this is a dream and a passion of mine...to have my own business. To make a difference, and to build this up and to help others replicate that for themselves and their families.

What new goals are you wanting to get to in Charmed and Company Creations now? 

New goals for Charmed and Company Creations are to continue to offer fresh merchandise for customers, to give great customer service, and I have a personal goal of over 1,000 Reps within a year to eighteen months. That may or may not happen in that timeframe, but it will come. There are also plans to expand into other product areas. I am still looking into those at this time. 



What advise do you have for new business owners?

 For new business owners, I would say to be prepared to work harder than you ever thought you would need to! Long hours and if an online company, lots of emails and messaging between yourself, the Reps, customers, etc. You need a good marketing plan. In today's online business arena, it is important to concentrate on Analytics and Conversions from viewers to sales. Keep going. Don't quit. You can only fail or lose if you give up or quit. Be unstoppable. Be determined, and focus on your passion and the reason why you started your business in the first place. If it's just for the money alone, you would be better off to go out into the regular workforce and get a job. Building a business takes time, patience, endurance, guts, a willingness to experience rejections, being teachable, trainable, and being real. It is not for the faint of heart.

I wanted to let you know that Charmed and Company Creations is going to make some changes in the requirements as of August 1, 2014. There will be a one time $15 fee to become a Rep for all new incoming Reps. All Reps will earn 30% plus up to 10% downline sales. ALSO Reps will now earn $5 for each Rep that they recruit (starting Aug. 1st with these changes). There will also be a minimal $15 per month in sales requirement starting August 1st.These changes are new, and we're doing it to generate income and participation from every Rep. They will also be getting their own affiliate website with Back Office to track their sales, progress, etc. when these new changes take effect.

DIY Barbie Couches



Before I go into telling you how I made our Barbie furniture I'd like to share with you why I'm doing this to begin with. The previous owners of our house left this home made doll house behind. My daughter is nine and has never been interested in playing with dolls. But when she saw that house she had plans. DIY Channel plans. She was going to decorate this house. One problem. We have no Barbies, no Barbie furniture or anything for her to use. So mom put on her crafty thinking hat and some Pinterest for some ideas. Oh and a shopping trip to pick up some barbies. My guess is that you have the Barbies and just need some furniture so fortunately you wont have that expense.

First things first. Figuring out my daughters style. So we started pinning her favorite finds on Pinterest which you can see HERE.

Then we searched through items that were about to go out the door to Good Will or to recycle. Went around the house collecting boxes and things that could be used for different Barbie house items.

Don't let Facebook Erase Your Business


Anyone that has a small business knows that they need to get exposure where they can. Facebook was a great way to do that. Now however a page reach is getting smaller and smaller. Getting the reach that you were looking for when you made the page has become seemingly nonexistent.Who went to all the work of posting ads everyday to keep people to find out that they couldn't even see you. And NOT by their choice! Who wants to work that hard and then have to pay Facebook? Yes, paying Facebook to advertise for you is an option. And they decide who you are advertised to. If you do, this it is fine. I however have been looking for other ways to do this.



Well it's time to find a way to get seen again. Here are things that can help.

  • Friends on Facebook 
 Ask All Your Friends to Like and COMMENT on your posts.

  • Networking Ladder pages and groups
 
What is a Like Ladder and What is Promote My Business all About.
“Like Ladder” is for Facebook Fans to Tag Their Page in comments , then the GOAL is for everyone to Find pages on the Ladder that are NEW to them and Give them a LIKE.. This helps everyone who join Gain New fans, and build their Facebook Fan Base.. 

On Like Ladder’s It is very important for everyone that joins to always Play Fair, Meaning Always Like NEW PAGES. The Reason its called a Ladder you may ask, fans tend to scroll from The Top to the bottom or the Bottom to the Top of the comments to find pages to Like.
Another Post That we do is called “Open Wall”. This is kind of like a “LIKE LADDER”. This is a great opportunity to show off the product that the business is advertising, an event , Sale, or Maybe a Contest they have going on at that time.. Now If you already have participated on a Like Ladder or Open Wall before, you may have ran into a problem with your page being hidden. Well here is a little trick for you to use if that happens.
Write a word such as “Hi” in the comments and press enter. A small pencil will appear in the top right of that particular comment, when you hover over it with the mouse courser it will show an option for Edit. Do this and paste your page into the ladder using the @(your Page Name) Then click enter.
Now for the FANS who are Pro’s at “Like Ladders”. Have you got to that point where you can’t like anymore pages cause you are at your MAX of Likes per Facebook ? This is one of Facebook's newest features that you may not have used yet but I can promise you will become one of your favorites once you get it figured out. There is so much you can do with it and I'm going to share a link with you so that you can make these lists pay.

  • Group
Make a group page for your business. You will be seen more this way. Make it a VIP group and really get people asking to join. Every time you post people in your group will see unless they mark it that they don't want notifications. As long as you aren't posting all the time you wont have may do this too you.


  • Events
Invite everyone to every event you have. It gives you exposure to your friends and even if they don't join they can see what it's about. Make it an open event and ask friends to invite friends and you could get even more exposure. It's all about being seen by as many people as possible right.


  • Posts
Ok let's avoid impersonal posts. Grab interest by making people feel good. Post images. Have this or that posts. To get people commenting on your posts on your page. The more people comment on your posts the higher you Facebook rating. The more people will see you. Keep it about your customers and wanting to know what they like and don't like.


  • Cover Images and Profile Pictures
Don't ever leave these empty. To have no images does not give off the impression that you want. Get images that represents your company. Have a nice picture of yourself if you would like. Nice does not mean a fuzzy picture. Make sure to post clear images. People react to these better and are more likely to click on a link if it looks like you put effort into it.

7 Steps to Organizing Your Office





Step 1 Let's start by clearing a space, it doesn't matter at this point if you are making a bigger pile or even putting everything on the floor. You need a space to work.
Step 2 You are going to use containers for small items such as pens, pencils, scissors, and other things. Mark the containers if you can't see inside of them. You need things to be easy to find.

 
Step 3 Now used your cleared space to organize the paper mess one item at a time. It's time to make decisions. What is important? What might be important? What is just extra or trash?   It might help to mark your piles to start.

 
 Now that you have your piles. They may look bad but now you may have gotten rid of quite a bit or know what you have in that pile. You have an idea of what you need to work on.

 As you can see I had a lot of things that just needed to be thrown away. I have about half as much to work through then I did when I started. I also found that most of what I was going through was kid stuff. Such as school work, pictures, art and report cards.

Step 4 Now that I know what is needing to be broke down next is for my children. I am going to sort through it all and match the projects that I'm going to keep to the child. Yes, I'm going to look through it all again. Decided if it is really something that I'd like to keep for the kids for them to look back on when they grow up. They don't need everything they ever did. It's okay to throw away. I'm giving you permission. Be picky about what you keep because space is limited. Your child does not need a closet full of school papers to look back on their school years. A tote full when they graduate is more then plenty.

 In this case I'm putting the kids pictures in their piles and keeping the ones with multiple kids into a separate folder. 


Step 5 Since this is a constant thing that will be added to I'm using a basket with plenty of room for more. When I come across other items that I want to keep I can file them according the the child right away. So that I wont end up with a huge mess again. This can work for tax papers, photos, and other things that helps to be separated out but you are constantly added to.

 Step 6  Continue on to other parts of the mess and sort as you did the first. Breaking it down. Example. The part of the mess that was mine. I found that much of it was kept in binders or folders. So I picked a large cube basket to use. I did have a small pile that did need to be broke down. I separated them in to groups. It was blog, photos, and tax papers. Then I put them into the envelope, binder or folder that would work best for each. Labeled them so that I could find them easily. Put them away and shut the lid.


 I still have too much but I've accumulated unused school supplies to hold on to until the new school year begins. Hopefully when the year begins my office can feel less cluttered still. Until then I'll be thankful that I have the space to put everything. I'll be happy to be able to find what I need when I need it.
Step 7 Clean off the desk, sweep the floor. 

Now I have a cleaner and calmer space.

Calling All Direct Marketing Representatives



Just As I Am-Dee is taking the direct approach. I'm going to offer a page just for those wanting to find direct marketing representatives to shop through or to join. The goal is to be the number one place to help others find the career that they've always dreamed of. I've found that direct sales is a favorable way to earn an income. So my Direct Sales List  page needs as many companies on it as possible.

Everyone deserves to be able to make an informed decision on a future career. I'm asking that those of you in the direct sales industry take into consideration this chance to be listed. I'll only need one representative per company. It's on a first come first serve basis. The list lineup will only change if the link is no longer valid then that company image will be deleted and all others will move up the list. When I find a replacement sales rep for that company they will then be at the bottom of the list as a new company would be. I don't play favorites. Only valid direct sales companies can be on this list.

Free Time? Help A Friend



We all end up with a few hours where we are just sitting in our favorite spot either in our living room or out in our yard. Sometimes we have a whole day of just chilling out. What if we could use this day to help a friend pay a bill, dress a their child, save for their retirement, or send them on a vacation that they could never take otherwise? Sounds far fetched? It's not.

If you have a friend in direct sales that is exactly what you are giving your friend when you invite them into your home for a couple hours with your other friends. You might see all these repeat direct reps out there well each one is doing it with the hope to make it work, to accomplish their goal. Many quit too early because they weren't encouraged, weren't supported or weren't trained properly to make it work. But they had that spark of hope in the beginning. They had the hope of providing for their family, for helping family and friends, of earning a vacation that they would never be able to take without the help of this company.

The company's are usually very generous to their reps. But they can't get the parties for the reps. No that is something reps have to search high and low for, have to encourage people all the time for. It's an amazing amount of effort to be on top of every possible yes or maybe later.

These reps always have wonderful gifts for hosts of shows for them. Free, half priced or gifts. I could put this post in my free page because of all the direct sales companies that will give you free for hitting a certain amount in sale you can get things for free.

But really do you need to be rewarded to help a friend? Do you need rewarded to invite friends over for a nice evening of shopping and visiting?

What is it that keeps you from holding parties?

Time- Do you have time to be on the computer? Do you have time to watch TV? Do you have time to sit on the porch and chill? We all have a bit of extra time. To use that bit of time during your day for your friend and see people that you like to have over. Would it be worth it for you to miss that time during one day?

Afraid- we all are afraid no one will come. If you have three people that love to hang out with you make sure that they are free that day. You can get outside orders from everyone else and you will have your three go to friends to enjoy your evening with and the possibility of anyone else you invited showing up. Make sure that you do a reminder call to everyone. You would be surprised how many would love to hang out for an evening. Stay excited about your party, your excitement will be contagious and get your friends to come. Smile those fears away.

Room- You know what there is always a solution. If your friend wants this party she will help find a solution to that problem. Holding it somewhere else, bringing less product or asking another friend to be a co-host and use their home. Don't consider it a problem. Remember if your friend is serious this their business and they will help make it happen.

Money- Talk to your friend. Every company is a little different when it comes to hosts. Let your friend know and see if you can work  out the issue. Don't give up.

Don't Like the Product- Most direct sales companies have really great products but on the off chance that the product isn't for you. You could see if you can hold a charity event with your friend through their company and promote it to your friends that like those kinds of things. Don't tell anyone that you don't like the products. Do it for the charity and your friend.

I have many many friends that sell direct sales products and most have not asked if I would host a show so you may never be asked to hold a party. But what kind of gift would it be if you were to come to them and ask?

Make Dry Mix Food Special For Family and Friends


For those that don't know me I Don't Cook and I Don't Bake. In my world if it takes more then one dish to make, I want nothing to do with it. I hate doing dishes so I avoid making them dirty. Now that you know me a little better. I'll explain why I'm doing a food post.

We have those days that family or friends want to meet up. What are you usually asked to bring? That's right Food! If your anything like me. You feel bad if you don't contribute. So what are you going to do?

I always offer to make a dessert. For one very important reason. You can buy mixes. Cheap I know but bare with me fellow nonbakers. You can buy a mix and still make a delicious and unique dessert very simply.

Here are a few hits I've had with mixes.

Instant Pudding mix- Now with this I'll give you a few examples of what I've done with it.

Option 1 -
Gram Cracker Pie Shell.
Whip Cream
Your Choice of Instant Pudding Mix

 Mix up the pudding with the pie instructions on the box. Then put your mixture in the pie shell and stick it in the refrigerator to firm. After about 10 to 15 minutes use an ice cream scoop to put the whip cream on top. Quick, yummy dessert. (If you go with Butterscotch buy Nilla wafers to crunch and put over the top it's my families favorite)

Option 2-
Chocolate Crumble pie shell crust
Chocolate pudding instant mix
Chocolate Chips or Mint Chocolate Chips (use sparingly, can be strong)
Whip Cream
Chocolate Syrup

Make up your pudding according to the pie instructions. Add your Chocolate Chips Stir. Pour into crust then put into refrigerator to firm. When ready to eat put your whip cream on top then pour some chocolate syrup on top like the Top Chefs do on TV.

Option 3

Gram Cracker pie shell
Bananas
Banana or Vanilla Instant pudding
Whip Cream (yes I like the whip cream, it makes the dessert look complete and tastes good)
Nilla Wafers- crushed

Slice the banana layer the bottom of your crust with the slices. Make you pudding according to the pie instructions. Pour your pudding on top if the bananas. Put in refrigerator to firm. When your ready to eat put your whip cream on the sprinkle the Nilla wafers on top. Enjoy



Muffin Mix- Most packages only make 6 so make sure to read your package just to be sure you are getting the amount you want.

With muffins it's a bit easier to make them seem special. Just make it look like you went the extra mile.

Apple muffins I add caramel on top. Blueberry add icing. Banana nut put some ice cream and crushed nuts on top.

The possibilities are endless. Just think of things that taste good with the main ingredient in your mix and find a way to add it. These mixes are only a few dollars each you can afford to experiment to find what works and looks pretty on a plate. You can do this. Your kids can learn to do this. It doesn't take a recipe to make any of these and only you have to know that it was this easy.

Bad Bathroom to Rad Bathroom with less then $100


We have been doing a lot of major transformations around the place. These transformations have taken it's toll on the budget. I however wont stop just because of a budget. Neither should you. First I worked on replacing the outdated mirror on my budget. You can see how in Bathroom Mirror Fix For Under $35.

Things to consider when changing the look of a room.

Accents- Sometimes if you just want to change the look of cupboards or vanities all you need to do is change the pulls or handles on them. Accents really are amazing that way.

Color- Yes, paint can change a room, changes the feel, can make it feel bigger or smaller and it can also make a room feel cleaner. Color fades, sometimes you can get away with just applying a coat of the same color to give the room life again. Now most of the time for smaller rooms you shouldn't go with dark colors however in the case of my bathroom it has some things working for it. High ceilings and white walls and light colored floors (which has got to be replaced ASAP). So I went for  black as it is my style at the moment. 


Now it was time to work on the vanity and cupboard. I didn't like the look of either. The vanity looked dirty and dated. The cupboard was a completely different color then the vanity and also dated. It was time to step it up. So what did it take?

Paint- Note that I chose a Kitchen and Bath paint. I got it on Sale SCORE!

1. Light sanding
2. Paint your first coat.(If it's a light colored paint you my need to do a coat of primer so that the previous color doesn't show through)




I thought this look was great however it's lacking coverage and it needs to have longevity. So I did what everyone does.

3. I talked to friends.



So these were some idea given to me. I wanted to do them all. But as I've said earlier. Budget! So I had to skip doing a clear coat and No wax on and wax off this time.

Second part of my job was the cupboard which I did the same to. Excuse the mess in the first picture. It's the only before picture I could find.

Estimated total = $43 and I round up on everything so $45 
Grand total is $80 

If your like me your thinking you still have $20 to get a lovely Dollar General shower curtain and a rewarding Star Bucks drink. Now sit back and enjoy a lovely bathroom. Well in my case almost lovely I still have the floor to do. Still I'm a very very happy lady. 

Remember it's okay to take it a little at a time. 
Even small improvements
 can give your home new life and make you feel good.
